●Neuroendocrine carcinoma of the skin
●Source: Merkel cells in the skin.
●It is a rare skin cancer with roughly 1500 cases per year.
●Merkel cell polyomavirus is strongly associated
●Presentation: Painless, firm, flesh-colored to red or blue bump
●Prognosis: Merkel cell tumor, highly malignant and usually fatal.
●Morphology: Looks EXACTLY like a small cell carcinoma of the lung with small blue round cells, high N:C ratio, nuclear irregularity, nuclear molding.
